Beast Add Six to Finalize Training Camp Roster

10/01/2017 10:07 AM -

BRAMPTON, ONTARIO – The Brampton Beast, ECHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens, is proud to announce its training camp roster ahead of the 2017-18 ECHL season.

Players will take the ice for training camp starting today, Sunday, October 1, at the Powerade Centre and will conclude on October 12.

Finishing off this season’s camp roster is a group of six players who signed Standard Player Contracts (SPC) in the days leading up to training camp.

Former Beast players Stefan Fournier, goaltender Andrew D’Agostini and defenseman Matt Petgrave, as well as Free Agent Camp graduate Philippe Gadoury, USports standout Nick Trecapelli and Yale University graduate Chris Izmirlian have all signed SPC’s and will be in attendance during Training Camp.

Stefan Fournier, a 25-year-old winger from Dorval, Quebec, appeared in five games for the Beast during the 2015-16 campaign, collecting one assist and 19 penalty minutes. He has appeared in a total of 142 AHL games with the Hamilton Bulldogs, St. John’s IceCaps, Springfield Falcons, Tucson Roadrunners and Syracuse Crunch.

As a junior, Fournier captained the 2012-13 Halifax Mooseheads to a Memorial Cup championship.

Goaltender Andrew D’Agostini appeared in 25 regular season contests with the Beast last season and posted a 13-8-1-1 record with a 3.30 goals against average and a 0.894 save percentage. He also appeared in one playoff game and allowed two goals on 38 shots.

Brampton’s own Matt Petgrave returns for a second tour of duty with the Beast after appearing in five regular season contests at the end of the 2016-17 season. He scored a goal and added an assist before appearing in nine playoff games, recording two helpers.

Guelph, Ontario native Nick Trecapelli is 26-year-old defenseman who played four years of USports hockey with the University of Guelph from 2012 to 2016. As a professional, Trecapelli has appeared in 43 ECHL contests with the Evansville Icemen, Wichita Thunder and Atlanta Gladiators, collecting five goals and 10 assists. He has also appeared in seven AHL games with the Binghamton Senators.

Forward Philippe Gadoury was the only attendee from this summer’s Free Agent Camp to earn an SPC ahead of the 2017-18 season. Gadoury is coming off a pair of solid USports seasons with Dalhousie University, picking up 26 goals and 18 assists for 44 points in 43 games played. He played two seasons of QMJHL hockey with the Halifax Mooseheads in 2013-14 and 2014-15, lighting the lamp 48 times in 78 games.

Chris Izmirlian, a 24-year-old forward from Montreal, Quebec, just finished his fourth year of NCAA hockey with Yale University. He appeared in a total of 110 NCAA contests in his four seasons from 2013-14 to 2016-17 and scored 15 goals while adding 25 helpers and 50 penalty minutes.

The Brampton Beast will also play two preseason games during camp.

The club’s first game is on Wednesday, October 4, against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues at Varsity Arena in downtown Toronto at 7:00PM. The second preseason game will be held at the Powerade Centre as the Beast take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday, October 7 at 3:00PM.

Tickets for both games are free of charge.
